About Island Bloom
Celebrate beautifully. Leave less behind.
At Island Bloom Gili Air, we believe that creating beautiful flowers, weddings, dinners and celebrations should never require unnecessary waste or unnecessary harm to the place we call home.
We want to make every celebration beautiful - while making more thoughtful choices for the island around us.
A Small Island Changes the Way You Think
Gili Air is a tiny island. What we leave behind does not simply disappear.
Flowers, packaging, decorations, food, event materials and everyday waste all have to go somewhere after the celebration is over.
That is why we try to think about the whole experience - not only how beautiful it looks for a few hours, but what remains afterward.
The celebration ends. The island stays.
Where it began
Flowers, Naturally
Flowers are where Island Bloom began, and they are still at the heart of what we do.
Whenever practical, we choose natural, reusable or compostable materials instead of unnecessary plastic.
- Natural and compostable materials where possible
- Less unnecessary plastic wrapping
- Less reliance on plastic floral tape
- Paper and banana leaves for wrapping
- Natural rope and twine
- Reusable containers and styling elements where practical
- Natural alternatives for floral mechanics
Better mechanics, wherever we can
Island Bloom does not use conventional industrial floral foam. Instead, we look for reusable or natural alternatives that can support our arrangements without leaving the same kind of long-lasting waste behind.
That can include containers, natural mechanics and locally available plant materials such as banana-tree materials, depending on the arrangement.
The solution may change from one design to another. The principle stays the same: use what we need, and avoid what we do not.
Beautiful Does Not Have to Mean Wasteful
You can still have the flowers.
You can still have the beautiful table.
You can still enjoy amazing food.
You can still dance, celebrate and make unforgettable memories.
Eco-conscious does not mean making an event feel empty or less special. It means looking at the details and asking whether there is a better way to create the same beautiful moment.
More care. Less unnecessary waste.
Island Bloom began with flowers on Gili Air and has grown into styling, celebrations and event services, while keeping flowers and thoughtful material choices at the centre of the brand.
Fresh Food. Thoughtful Portions. Less Waste.
Our approach to catering follows the same idea. Whenever possible, we prefer fresh, homemade food prepared with care and served close to the time it is meant to be enjoyed.
For events, thoughtful menu planning and portion management can help reduce unnecessary packaging, excessive preparation and food waste.
- Fresh and homemade food where practical
- Food prepared close to service time
- Portions planned around the event and guest count
- Less unnecessary packaging
- Reusable serving equipment where practical
- Better control of leftovers and food waste
For larger events, selected hot dishes can also be prepared and replenished on site in smaller batches, helping keep the food fresh while avoiding unnecessary quantities sitting out for long periods.
We know we cannot be perfect.
But we believe we can always make better choices.
Some materials are difficult to avoid. Some events require practical compromises. Availability on a small island can also change what is possible.
For us, being an eco florist is not about claiming perfection. It is about continuing to ask what can be reused, what can be natural, what can be reduced and what simply is not necessary.
One better choice is still a better choice.
The Place We Call Home
We all share a responsibility to care for this beautiful place - not only for ourselves, but for the people who will experience it after us.
Island Bloom lives and works on Gili Air. The beaches, trees, sea and community around us are not simply the background for our flowers and events. They are our home.
Gili Air is surrounded by an ocean full of life. Sea turtles, coral reefs and countless marine species share this place with us, while local divers and island communities work to protect what lives beneath the surface. What we leave behind on land can eventually reach the sea, which is another reason we believe small choices matter.
After the celebration ends, the flowers fade, the music stops and everyone goes home...
The island is still here.
And we want it to stay beautiful.
Island Bloom Gili Air
Beauty with more care for the planet.
Whether it is a bouquet, a proposal, a private dinner or a wedding, our goal is simple: create something beautiful while leaving less unnecessary waste behind.
